Today, our Back to Her Headliner interview is with the always-interesting and insightful Dr. Vernessa Blackwell. We're excited to introduce you to this trailblazing leader who has created a healing space for people to reclaim their joy after losing a loved one. Dr. Vee, as she is affectionately known, is the CEO of the Grief Helpline and BSB Publishing LLC. She is also a retired Noncommissioned Officer of the United States Army after serving proudly for 24 years.

Dr. Vee trained thousands of soldiers during her military service to excel in their careers. In addition, she is an International Best Selling Author and Publishing Coach and has positioned herself as the Best-Selling Book Strategist.

She created the Grief Recovery System, a 3-month coaching program that provides resources and strategies to guide and support you through your healing journey from grief and loss. She understands that wherever there is Joy, our souls can heal and believes everyone has a story to share despite their pain.

Dr. Vee inspires new authors to become bestsellers, build a brand, and use their platform to create sustainable businesses with books, products, and services. She specializes in Author Branding, Book Coaching, and Publishing.

Dr. V, thank you for joining us! We are honored and excited to have you share a little about yourself and your outstanding business! I would love to know what the inspiration behind your brand is. How did you go from idea to execution?

I have been a visionary for five anthologies and love helping people become Best Selling Authors. I also empower our authors to build sustainable brands with their books. I started writing after incurring a lot of losses in my family. I had three sisters and a brother, and they all passed away. Both my parents are deceased, so I am the last of a family of seven.

I started writing anthologies to share my struggles with the pain of such a significant loss. So, in 2012 I decided to invest in myself and became certified as a Grief and Loss and Joy Restoration Coach. I have had to overcome some of the struggles I faced with grief and loss, allowing me to mentor my children, nieces, and nephews as they dealt with their pain.

Can you talk to us about how these experiences changed your life and why you chose anthologies to share your message of hope?

While healing and working through the pain of losing my family, I found that many folks shared similar issues. Anthologies are a great way to give the potential reader easy access to a wide range of literary works on a subject. Most of my projects have supported the grief and loss community. This turned into a full-fledged business that resulted in the birth of twenty books, and I'm still writing, guiding, and mentoring others to do the same.

What are the titles of some of your books or projects?

I recently introduced my readers to an anthology devotional, "Joy Comes in the Morning, " published in June 2022. Before that, there was "Finding Joy in the Journey Vol 2: HEALTHY WAYS TO FIND JOY DURING DIFFICULT TIMES 90 DAY DEVOTIONAL", which was published in 2021. In addition, I published "Finding Joy in the Journey Vol 1: Healthy Ways to Navigate Grief a 90-Day Devotional with 89 amazing authors in 2020. And "Your Wings Were Ready, But My Heart Was Not" in 2019.

I then wrote a series featuring "The Grief Helpline Companion Workbook" and "The Other side of Grief Devotional, Coloring Book and Journal." As mentioned earlier. I also founded the Grief Helpline, where I spend a lot of time mentoring grievers and clients who go on to become best-selling authors in my collaborations.

Wow, that is great! Do you have any events or speaking engagements coming up?

Yes, I do! I'm excited to speak in Madrid, Spain, in April of this year and in Dubai in June! I'm also looking forward to many more speaking engagements once the "Joy 365 Devotional" is launched in the Summer of 2023!

You are a phenomenal woman, and you have indeed turned your pain into purpose and brought joy to those who may have felt they would never feel it again. I know that your incredible work has blessed many, and I also know that there are many more blessings to come! Is there anything else you would like to add?

Absolutely! We are looking for coauthors for our latest devotional, Joy 365. So, if you want to join this project, join a phenomenal group of authors, and become a Best-selling author in 2023, this is your chance! Click here to get started.
