Meet Domonique' Acoff

The Woman on Purpose spotlight is dedicated to recognizing and shouting out our sisters who are out here building businesses, raising families, supporting communities, making a difference and every wonderful thing that the women in our lives do every day. We are celebrating their wholeness and the Divine Feminine Energy that births and nurtures this world. We see you sister, and we salute you!

This month we are kicking off Women's History Month with licensed esthetician Domonique Acoff, the founder and CEO of Elegant Beauty Company in Buffalo, New York. She recently had her grand opening and I wanted to learn a little more about this Woman on Purpose and her business. I caught up with her on this frigid winter morning as she was preparing to open up for the day.

New York businesswoman Domonique’ Acoff on her grand opening of Elegant Beauty Company, a full-service beauty bar in Buffalo: “I started this business to have a relaxing and comfortable space for women of all backgrounds and walks of life to have a peaceful atmosphere while getting beautified and pampered. I know how it feels to go to a nail salon or beauty bar and feel completely uncomfortable while getting my services, and it’s not a good feeling at all. I wanted to create an experience for my clients that is welcoming, and one where they can feel free to be themselves without feeling judged or looked down on.”

When asked where her drive and passion for all things beauty came from, she told me, “Elegant Beauty came from a place of rediscovering both your inner and outer beautiful self. At one point in my life, I felt very insecure about myself and my appearance. No one knew it, but it had a huge impact on my self-confidence and self-esteem. But, when I decided to reverse that negative self-talk and understand that I am beautiful all the way through, I began to feel like my strong, beautiful, confident self again.

I know for sure that there are other women out here that have experienced or are experiencing those same feelings. My mission is to is to make sure that each of those women, no matter who they are or where they come from feel beautiful The Elegant Beauty way. She also explained how God gave her the vision to use her talents to serve. “The vision came to me around two months before I actually decided to go back to school so that I could become licensed and build my skills around those talents. It was sitting and thinking one day, what in the world am I here for? That’s when the idea came to me. I am supposed to be helping women who are struggling with self-esteem and self-confidence issues feel as beautiful as they are.

I wanted to know what her message is to all the Beauty Queens out there, here's what she said: "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and is also skin deep. It’s you who are the beholder of your own beauty, so be bold an own it!"

Mission accomplished!
